POUND — Plans to bring hot meals, food and hygiene items to the town are in the works.

During Town Council’s Jan. 17 meeting, member Kristen Foley said she has been passionate about bringing Lonesome Pine Mutual Aid to the town.

LPMA provides a hot meal, household goods and a grocery distribution in Big Stone Gap once a month and Foley wants that to come to Pound. Foley said it would benefit the community.

Foley asked council’s permission to utilize town hall and the kitchen to facilitate a hot meal for the community. On a motion from Vice Mayor Leabern Kennedy, council agreed to allow Foley to proceed with bringing LPMA to the community.
Lonesome Pine Mutual Aid operates under Southern Appalachia Mountain Stewards, of which Foley has recently become a member.
